About Mike

Mike Andrews joined Beasley Allen in 1998 and concentrates his practice on complex product liability litigation involving catastrophic injuries and wrongful death. He represents individuals and families harmed by defective aircraft, commercial trucks, automobiles, and heavy equipment. Mike is currently representing families who lost loved ones in Air India Flight 171 and Jeju Air Flight 2216, two of the world’s most significant recent aviation disasters.

A substantial portion of Mike’s practice is devoted to aviation litigation. Over the course of his career, he has represented victims and families impacted by a wide range of aircraft accidents involving both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. His experience includes litigation arising from the 2019 crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 involving a Boeing 737 MAX, as well as cases involving aircraft electronics and engine failures, onboard oxygen system failures, V-22 Osprey crashes, military and civilian helicopter accidents, weight and balance failures, powerline strike incidents, cabin pressurization failures, and aircraft maintenance errors.

Mike is known for his passion for highly technical cases and his deep commitment to helping injured children. His courtroom success has earned him top honors, including Beasley Allen’s Litigator of the Year and Lawyer of the Year for the Products Liability Section. He was also named one of the Top 10 Aviation Attorneys and among the Top 100 Civil Plaintiff Lawyers in the U.S. by the National Trial Lawyers. Additionally, he has been recognized in numerous editions of The Best Lawyers in America® for Aviation Law, Personal Injury Litigation, and Product Liability Litigation and was honored as a 2027 Best Lawyers “Lawyer of the Year” recipient for his work in Product Liability Litigation. Most recently, he was recognized in the Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers.

Mike has built an international reputation for representing individuals and families in product liability, aviation accident, trucking accident, and catastrophic injury cases. He has secured numerous seven- and eight-figure verdicts and settlements. His notable results include a recent $43.5 million settlement arising from a catastrophic explosion, a $30 million verdict involving a defective vehicle, aviation settlements of $22 million and $15.5 million, and an $18.8 million verdict for a young man paralyzed in a truck rollover. He also obtained an $8 million verdict for a nurse injured by a defective vehicle and a $7 million verdict in a fatal post-crash fire case. In addition to representing injured clients and grieving families, Mike has played key roles in litigation against some of the world’s largest manufacturers, including Boeing, General Motors, and Ford Motor Company. Combining technical knowledge with a client-focused approach, Mike is committed to helping families find answers, seek justice, and move forward after life-changing events.

Beyond the courtroom, Mike is a leader in the legal community. He’s an active member of the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, Montgomery County Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, and the Alabama State Bar. He also contributes to the Attorneys Information Exchange Group, serves on the UAB Transportation Safety Advisory Board, and is Past President of the Alabama Head Injury Foundation.

A proud native of Dothan, Alabama, Mike and his wife Carol have three children—Shelby, David Michael II, and Jack. They attend First Baptist Church in Dothan. In his downtime, Mike enjoys photography, with award-winning work recognized both locally and nationally.

Education

Mike earned his bachelor’s degree from Troy State University at Dothan. Following his undergraduate studies, he pursued his passion for law, earning a Juris Doctor degree cum laude from Faulkner University’s Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 2001.

During his time there, he was deeply involved in student leadership, serving as President of the Kenneth F. Ingram Senate of Delta Theta Phi law fraternity, Chief Justice of the Student Bar Honor Court, and a two-term member of the Law Review Board. He also represented his peers as a senator in the Student Bar Association. His academic excellence was recognized with awards for Best Scholastic Achievement in Contracts and Criminal Law, along with the prestigious West Publishing Corpus Juris Secundum Award.
