About Greg
Greg Allen joined Beasley Allen Law Firm in 1982. Today, he is the lead products liability attorney and is known for taking on powerful corporations and securing justice for people who’ve been seriously injured.
Greg’s journey into law wasn’t planned—it was destiny in disguise. In the late 1970s, while working for the railroad in Atlanta, Greg was transferred to Montgomery, Alabama. Not long after settling in, he spotted an ad for night classes at Jones School of Law. He applied, got in, and unknowingly stepped onto the path that would define his life.
His victories have earned national recognition, including the prestigious War Horse Award from the Southern Trial Lawyers Association in 2019, honoring over 30 years of outstanding trial advocacy and commitment to justice. He’s been named to Alabama (Midsouth) Super Lawyers from 2008 to 2022 and listed in The Best Lawyers in America from 2011 to 2021. Greg was also recognized as Best Lawyers’ “Lawyer of the Year” in Montgomery for Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs in 2020 and 2022, and for Product Liability Litigation – Plaintiffs in 2012 and 2021. His excellence has earned him a place among the Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers and induction into the Lawdragon Hall of Fame in 2021.
From humble beginnings to record-setting triumphs, over the years, Greg has led or contributed to landmark cases. One of those was the largest personal injury settlement in Alabama, which totaled $110 million. He spearheaded the team that secured a settlement for the family of Kimberleigh Welch, a school bus driver who tragically lost her life due to a defectively designed bus. Additionally, he helped achieve a $151 million verdict for Travaris “Tre” Smith, who was paralyzed in a Ford Explorer rollover, and a $122 million jury award for a brain-injured child in a case against General Motors—one of the top verdicts of 2002. Greg’s impressive track record includes numerous multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements, such as an $18.79 million award for a young man paralyzed in a truck crash, as well as several other eight-figure outcomes. Other jury verdicts of note include $114 million, $30 million, $26.25 million, $13.5 million, $12 million, and $11.75 million.
Greg’s commitment to justice extends beyond the courtroom. He’s a respected leader in the legal community, serving on numerous boards and committees, and he’s passionate about mentoring the next generation of lawyers. Jones School of Law even named its mock trial competition and a law center in his honor. He’s a past president of the Montgomery Trial Lawyers Association and serves on the executive committees of both the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association and the Attorney’s Information Exchange Group (AIEG). He also chairs the journal committee for the Alabama Association for Justice and is active in several bar associations.
Outside of work, Greg is a devoted family man, scuba diving enthusiast, and historic preservationist. He and his wife, Jane, are active in their church and community. They’ve played a key role in revitalizing downtown Montgomery, including the Alley Station complex, and also completed the rebuilding of Le Sueur’s mill near Notasulga, Alabama.
Education
Greg obtained his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 1983. Prior to that, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree from West Georgia College in 1976.
Greg began his legal career in 1980 as the very first law clerk for Jere Beasley, working for free just to gain experience. That leap of faith paid off.
