Ben Baker started his journey at Beasley Allen Law Firm in 2001. He focuses on cases involving defective products.
Ben is a firm believer that nothing takes the place of preparation. He has received numerous honors for his contributions to the legal field. Ben was a finalist for Public Justice’s 2014 Trial Lawyer of the Year and has been consistently included in Midsouth Super Lawyers from 2010 to 2023. He has also been listed in Best Lawyers since 2013 and was named Best Lawyers 2021 Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs section. Additionally, he has received multiple awards from Beasley Allen, including Lawyer of the Year for the Product Liability Section and Litigator of the Year.
A standout in the courtroom, Ben is known for achieving significant verdicts against major corporations. He has successfully handled numerous cases, securing multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements for his clients. One of his most memorable cases includes a $160 million verdict against a major heavy truck manufacturer related to cab design issues involving rollover safety that resulted in the driver’s incomplete quadriplegia. He said it epitomized our motto of helping those who need it most, our very deserving clients. Other notable verdicts and settlements include a $12 million verdict against Toyota Motor Corp. for a defective rear axle in a Toyota 4Runner, a $16.8 million verdict for a defective cab guard that failed to protect a log truck driver, $10 million verdict against Mazda Motor Corp. for a post-collision fuel-fed fire in a 2008 Mazda 3, and a $3 million verdict against Toyota for defective throttle control software leading to unintended acceleration.
Ben currently serves as the President of the Alabama Association for Justice and a Past President of the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), a national organization of trial attorneys dedicated to preserving the right to a jury trial.
Originally from Ozark, Alabama, Ben is married to Kimberly Strag from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They have a daughter and two sons. In his free time, Ben enjoys quail hunting, saying there’s nothing like watching the dogs hunt for birds. He is also deeply involved in his community, participating in the Paseo movement in Alabama, previously serving on the Landmarks Foundation of Montgomery, and as past president of the board of directors for The Least, a prison ministry.
Education
Ben graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Architecture in 1990. He then pursued his law degree at Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama, graduating in 1993.
