About Dana
Dana Taunton joined Beasley Allen in 1998. She focuses on product liability and personal injury cases, serving as the lead appellate attorney in these matters.
Dana’s passion for helping others, inspired by her father’s selfless acts and advice to love and serve others, has shaped her legal career. As a Martindale Hubbell AV-Rated attorney, she has been recognized in the 2013 edition of Benchmark Appellate and named to the Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers list. Her dedication to service is truly part of her DNA.
Seeing parents care for children with traumatic brain or spinal cord injuries, with unwavering strength and love, deeply inspires Dana. This inspiration fuels her passionate commitment to advocate for these families and serve them with compassion. Many of Dana’s product liability cases have resulted in multi-million dollar settlements, significantly impacting her clients’ lives. One of her most memorable cases involved a young family driving a Chrysler Minivan home to Florida after a soccer tournament. During a rollover accident, the mother’s seatbelt unbuckled, resulting in paraplegia. The seatbelt’s buckle was prone to accidental releases, and Chrysler had known about the faulty design for years but failed to issue a recall. Dana’s dedication to these families and her relentless pursuit of justice in product liability cases continue to make a significant impact.
She is actively involved in several professional associations, including the Alabama Association for Justice, where she serves on the AMICUS Committee and the editorial board for ALAJ Magazine. Dana is also a member of the American Association for Justice, the Montgomery County Bar Association, the Montgomery County Association for Justice, and the Alabama State Bar. She has previously chaired the Alabama State Bar Women’s Section and has served on various Alabama State Bar committees, such as the Bench & Bar Relations Task Force, the Improving the Image of Lawyers Task Force, and the Diversity in the Profession Committee. Additionally, Dana currently serves on the Board of Women in Training, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending period poverty in the State of Alabama.
The Butler, Alabama, native is a proud mother of two daughters, Betsie and Abby. When she’s not practicing law, Dana loves spending time outdoors, whether it’s hiking, scuba diving, or embarking on other adventurous activities. For her, being outside is a way to rejuvenate and disconnect from the digital world, allowing her to fully appreciate the beauty of God’s creation.
