About Gavin

Gavin King began working as a law clerk at Beasley Allen in 2019 before rejoining the firm as an attorney in 2020. He currently represents a variety of plaintiffs, primarily in environmental litigation.

Gavin has consistently distinguished himself as a rising leader in the legal profession. Since 2022, he has been honored as a member of the National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 and recognized annually as a Midsouth Super Lawyers “Rising Star.” His excellence in practice has also earned him inclusion in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America for his work in Environmental and Product Liability law beginning in 2025. That same year, he was honored with the firm’s Chad Stewart Award. This award celebrates Chad Stewart’s dedication to service, family, and the practice of law, recognizing a lawyer who exemplifies these qualities in their professional and personal life.

Recently, Gavin was part of a legal team retained by the Alabama Attorney General’s Office that secured over $728 million in settlements from healthcare and drug companies responsible for the opioid epidemic. In 2021, Gavin served as lead trial counsel for the family of a Wilcox County man who tragically died due to the negligence of Camden Nursing Facility.

Gavin is a distinguished member of the Alabama State Bar, the State Bar of Georgia, and the North Carolina State Bar. He was selected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Alabama State Bar Young Lawyers’ Section. Additionally, Gavin is an active member of the Montgomery County Bar Association, where he serves on the Board of Directors. He also represents the Middle District for the Alabama Lawyers’ Association and is a dedicated member of the Alabama Association for Justice. Within this association, he is part of the Emerging Leaders and is a proud graduate of the inaugural ELITE Leadership Academy class.

Gavin is a native of Opelika, Alabama, and married to the former Erica Williams of Birmingham. They have two daughters and now reside in Montgomery, where they are active members of Hutchinson Missionary Baptist Church. In his free time, Gavin enjoys following Mississippi State athletics and hunting with his bird dog, Judge.

Education

The Mississippi State University graduate studied music, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 2017. During college, Gavin was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and elected by the student body to serve as Attorney General.

After completing his undergraduate education, Gavin attended Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, where he was a member of the National Trial Team, Christian Legal Society, and the Black Law Students Association.
