About Tyner
Tyner Helms joined Beasley Allen in 2017. He focuses on termite damage, whistleblower, class action, and business litigation cases.
Tyner was recently named by The National Trial Lawyers to the Alabama Top 40 Under 40 Civil Plaintiff Trial Lawyers List, an honor given to only a select group of lawyers for their superior skills and qualifications in the field. Additionally, he has been recognized as a Mid-South Super Lawyers “Rising Star.” In 2022, Tyner received the firm’s prestigious Chad Stewart Award.
Believing firmly in the pursuit of justice, Tyner chose Beasley Allen and his current practice because they align with his values in every case. He often represents clients facing financial distress due to the unlawful actions of others and considers it an immense honor to help them recover the compensation they deserve. One of his most memorable cases was a class action lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, where he gained invaluable experience in complex litigation. The case involved allegations that FCA used illegal software to cheat emissions tests and failed to disclose defeat devices, which allowed excess pollution, and it ultimately settled for $307.5 million. This experience not only honed Tyner’s legal skills but also deepened his commitment to fighting for justice on behalf of his clients. Additionally, he was part of team that secured a $95 million settlement against TD Bank in the multidistrict litigation In Re: Telexfree Securities Litigation, 4:14-md-02566, U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, which involved allegations that Massachusetts-based company, TelexFree, ran a Ponzi/pyramid scheme by charging people to become promoters of a Voice over Internet Protocol service that was rarely used, promising commissions to the promoters. The scheme affected approximately 2 million people worldwide.
He is deeply involved in the legal community as an active member of the Alabama State Bar and its Young Lawyers Section. Tyner also plays a pivotal role in the Montgomery County Bar Association Young Lawyers Section, where he serves as President. Beyond these commitments, he is a dedicated member of the Christian Legal Society.
Tyner and his wife reside in Birmingham, Alabama, with their two children. They are dedicated members of the First Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, a hobby he picked up with his dad in middle school and has loved ever since. Beyond sports, he has a strong passion for politics and enjoys reading about and discussing current political issues. Tyner is also actively involved in the community, serving on the Southeast Alabama Area Health Education Board and mentoring at Flowers Elementary School.
Education
Tyner graduated with an accounting degree from Auburn University in 2013. He was active in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and various college and charity groups.
2017 he earned his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. During his time there, he was a senior editor for the Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Law Review, interned at the Elder Law Legal Aid Clinic, and helped a professor with research on the False Claims Act and customs.
