About Danielle Ward Mason
Danielle Ward Mason joined Beasley Allen in 2009 and works in the firm's Mass Torts section, investigating claims involving dangerous drugs and medical devices. Danielle is currently handling cases involving the drug Reglan, which is associated with the development of uncontrolled muscle movements, a condition known as Tardive Dyskinesia. She also is working on claims related to Kugel Mesh, an abdominal hernia repair product manufactured by Davol, Inc. The mesh was recalled in 2005 and 2007 due to defects including breakage of the wire ring along the outer edge of the mesh product that caused bowel perforation and other serious abdominal injuries.
Danielle also is part of the team working on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) litigation. Hormone Replacement Therapy, including drugs such as Premarin, Prempro and Provera, was prescribed to treat the symptoms of menopause until 2002, when a comprehensive women’s health study was halted as a result of increasing incidents of breast cancer. The drugs also were promoted for off-label uses, including prevention of cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer’s disease. Danielle was part of the trial team that recently secured a $72.6 million verdict on behalf of three plaintiffs in Philadelphia who took HRT drugs and later developed breast cancer.
Danielle graduated cum laude from Faulkner University's Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 2007. She interned at the Federal Defender Middle District of Alabama during law school, from November 2007-April 2008, and worked as a court-appointed defense attorney for the Federal Defender Middle District of Alabama following her graduation until June 2009, when she joined the staff at Beasley Allen. She is licensed in the Middle, Southern and Northern District Courts in Alabama.
While at Jones Law School, Danielle was a member of the trial advocacy team and competed in the Buffalo-Niagara Mock Trial Competition in the National Semi-Finals in 2007. She was Senior Editor of the Jones Law Review, was on the Dean's List, and was selected to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Danielle worked as a Teaching Assistant for Don Garner (Torts) and tutored first-year students in Torts law. She also served as a Research Assistant for Shirley Howell (Family Law). Among her scholastic achievement awards are Best Oral Advocate, Best Paper - Race, Poverty and Death Penalty Seminar; and Best Team - Pretrial Practice. As a student, she also wrote a paper titled Racism on Our Juries: The Impossibility of Impartiality in Capital Cases, which was recently published in the Jones Law Review.
A native of Montgomery, Danielle attended Jefferson Davis High School and graduated from Auburn Montgomery with a Bachelor's degree in Economics in 1999, followed by a Masters of Business Administration in 2001. She began a career in commercial banking, spending 5 years with Regions Bank and 2 years at Compass Bank before entering law school.
She is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the American Association for Justice, the Alabama Association for Justice and Young Lawyers. She currently serves on the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation Junior Board of Directors, the MCBA Young Lawyers Board of Directors, and is an officer of the Alabama Lawyers Association. She also serves as a mentor for two students at Jones School of Law through its Career Services Student Mentor Program.
Danielle is married to Dwan R. Mason, and they have two sons, Jordan, 14, and Jaxon, 5. She enjoys spending time with her family in her free time.
