Dick’s Sporting Goods agrees to settle overtime violation lawsuits

Dick’s Sporting Goods, Inc., has reached a tentative settlement agreement involving employees and former employees who allege the company did not pay them for overtime hours worked and that management at the stores ordered them to work through scheduled breaks.

The settlement, if approved by the federal court in Rochester, N.Y., would total more than $15 million and compensate thousands of workers who joined class-action lawsuits in 22 states.

The case was initially filed in Rochester in 2005. The news article says the company required some employees to work more than 40 hours per week without overtime pay or to work through or interrupt their breaks without compensation.
