MONTGOMERY, AL – A complaint was filed on behalf of Sue Gilmore Tatum and Ken Tatum Tuesday afternoon in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Alabama. The complaint alleges defendant Patrick Cumbie negligently ran the Runabout he was operating into plaintiff Sue Gilmore Tatum and into the pontoon boat on which she was a passenger.

According to the complaint, as a proximate consequence of the negligence of Cumbie, plaintiff Sue Gilmore Tatum was severely injured and is believe to be permanently impaired and disabled.

Montgomery attorneys Jere Beasley, Julia Beasley and Ben Baker will represent the family of Sue Gilmore Tatum, seriously injured on the evening of Saturday, Aug. 9, in a boating accident at Lake Martin.

Ms. Tatum is under the care of numerous doctors and is hospitalized at Baptist Medical Center South.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night in the Little Kowaliga Creek section of Lake Martin, near Real Island.

Ms. Tatum’s brother-in-law, Donny Tatum, was killed in the accident.

According to the Marine Police, the accident is the first fatality recorded on Lake Martin this year.
