Pfizer’s recent decision to withdraw Bextra at the FDA’s request is drawing attorneys and medical experts to the New Orleans Ritz-Carlton on May 18 for an in-depth discussion of litigation involving the Cox-2 painkiller.

This comprehensive discussion of Bextra medical and legal issues is being chaired by Daniel E. Becnel Jr., who has filed some of the earliest Bextra lawsuits against Pfizer, on behalf of plaintiffs alleging heart attacks or strokes from the drug. The event has been scheduled so that counsel can also attend the Association of Trial Lawyers of America’s two-day Mock Vioxx Trial on May 19 & 20 in New Orleans.

The medical perspective will be provided by cardiologist John Markis, M.D., of Harvard Medical School; Augustine Aruna, PharmD, of New Orleans, professor of clinical pharmacy; internist and toxicologist Nachman Brautbar, M.D., of USC; and forensic pathologist Cyril H. Wecht, M.D., of Pittsburgh. HarrisMartin has also scheduled a one-hour Ethics session for CLE credit.

Speakers and panelists include preeminent trial lawyers from firms experienced in Vioxx, Bextra, Celebrex, and other pharmaceutical litigation. Among the firms represented are Levin, Papantonio, Thomas, Mitchell, Echsner & Proctor in Florida; Hill, Toriseva & Williams in West Virginia; Kline & Specter in Philadelphia; Lopez, Hodes, Restaino, Milman & Skikos in California; Neblett, Beard & Arsenault of Louisiana; Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles in Alabama; Goforth Lewis Sanford in Texas; and others.

Respectful, understanding, efficient and compassionate

Beasley Allen is one of the most professional organizations I have ever had the pleasure of working with. They are respectful, understanding, efficient, and above all compassionate. They take the best care of their clients in every way possible. They keep us informed and aware of things involved in their clients cases. Their counsel is stellar in the industry. I would highly recommend them to others in their time of need and I have done so.
