Beasley Allen Law Firm’s Greg Allen was presented with the Southern Trial Lawyers Association’s “War Horse” award on Thursday, Feb. 21 during the group’s 31st Annual Conference at Mardi Gras in New Orleans. The award recognizes the nation’s most outstanding trial lawyers who have been active in practice for more than 30 years. Allen joins Beasley Allen founder, Jere Beasley, who was also honored with the “War Horse” award in 2011.
“This award is well-deserved,” said Beasley Allen attorney and STLA president, Gibson Vance. “Greg is a true advocate for his clients and his character and leadership within the profession serve as guides to his colleagues, as well as aspiring attorneys. He has touched so many lives and is a pillar within the profession.”
Award honorees are nominated by members of the STLA in recognition of their exceptional commitment to furthering the cause of justice, as well as demonstrating outstanding skill as an advocate and leader inside and outside of the courtroom. They also have the highest reputation in terms of ethics and honesty.
From a humble beginning as a law clerk with what is now the Beasley Allen Law Firm to becoming one of its named partners and being recognized as one of the nation’s leading trial lawyers, Allen’s heart and passion for helping his clients has never wavered. He has devoted his career to taking on giant corporations on behalf of people who have been seriously injured, especially in difficult and technical cases.
Throughout Allen’s career, he has provided leadership within the legal profession and especially to the plaintiff’s bar. He is a past president of the Montgomery Trial Lawyers Association and continues serving on the executive committee for the Alabama Association for Justice (formerly the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association), in addition to serving as chairman of the group’s journal committee. Allen also serves as a member of the board of directors and on the Executive Committee for the Attorney’s Information Exchange Group (AIEG). Additionally, he has taught and mentored aspiring attorneys.
The award-winning attorney’s leadership, integrity and professionalism inside and outside of the courtroom have been recognized nationally and in his own community. His law school alma mater’s mock trial competition and law center bear his name because of his dedication to the school and its students. Further, Allen has been selected to Alabama Super Lawyers 2008-2017 and has been included in The Best Lawyers in America from 2011-2018. He also was named the Best Lawyers’ 2012 Montgomery Product Liability Litigation Plaintiffs’ Lawyer of the Year. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.” Allen also was named one of the firm’s Litigators of the Decade in December 2010 and was recognized as the National Law Journal’s Litigator of the Month in 2002.
