Beasley Allen Law Firm will host its 13th annual Legal Conference & Expo at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center on Thursday, Nov. 14. This conference is open to all Alabama lawyers in private practice. Attendees will receive updates on cases Beasley Allen attorneys have successfully litigated over the past year as well as up-and-coming litigation. The case-review-themed approach will reinforce takeaways for conference participants.
This year’s trial track will be an examination of the Boeing 737 MAX litigation. Two separate Boeing 737 Max 8 crashes, one involving Lion Air and the other Ethiopian Airlines, killed 346 people in a span of less than five months. The Lion Air crash occurred in October 2018 and the Ethiopian Airlines crash occurred in March 2019. Beasley Allen lawyer Mike Andrews, who focuses much of his practice on aviation litigation, is representing the families of those killed in the Ethiopian Airlines crash. Program speakers will include his co-counsel, Leah Chege, from Birmingham, Alabama, and leading aviation accident investigator Tony James, who investigated the 9/11 plane crash in Pennsylvania.
“We are excited to bring the latest in personal injury litigation to conference guests and appreciate the opportunity to serve as a resource for our colleagues across the state,” said Beasley Allen attorney LaBarron Boone, who serves on the firm’s Executive Committee. “In addition to the Boeing 737 MAX investigation we will discuss emerging areas of litigation and practice areas crucial to a trial lawyers’ success. Practice areas will include Product Liability, Business Litigation, Consumer Fraud, Toxic Torts, Medical Device and Drug litigation as well as Legal Ethics.”
The event is the largest of its kind in the state and one of the top five legal conferences in the country. It offers eight hours of free Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits certified by the Alabama State Bar.
“It is a pleasure to offer the continuing legal education event for fellow Alabama attorneys each year. Not only are we able to share our firm’s experiences and successes but we able to network and build relationships to encourage growth for the profession,” said Beasley Allen attorney Gibson Vance. “Each year our goal is to offer fresh insights for the Alabama legal community with a focus on case and trial preparation as well as legal marketing tips for private practice lawyers.”
Beasley Allen Principal & Founder Jere Beasley will discuss the important role lawyers play in improving society. Additional special guest speakers include United States Senator Doug Jones, Alabama Supreme Court Associate Justice Sarah Stewart, Retirement Systems of Alabama CEO Dr. David Bronner and Alabama State Bar General Counsel Roman Shaul.
Attendees can visit with the nation’s top legal service providers along with this year’s platinum sponsors, Veritext Reporting, Jackson Thornton Valuation and Litigation Consulting Group, and Baker Reporting. Representatives from other legal and community groups, including the Alabama State Bar and the Alabama Association for Justice, will be available to offer attendees information about how their organizations assist Alabama lawyers.
