Next to jury selection, an attorney’s opening statement is the most important thing he or she can do to control the outcome for his or her client. In this presentation, Beasley Allen attorney Chris Glover addresses the importance of an opening statement to the jury. He emphasizes the power of first impressions. According to Glover, studies show that 80 percent of jurors make up their mind during the opening statement, and one jury consultant said 85-90 percent of jurors do not change their decision after opening statement by the close of the trial. During his presentation, Glover presents tips for making the best presentation possible to make a favorable impression on the jury.
