Body Scanning Technology Raises Privacy Concerns

Atlanta’s WSB-TV discusses Hexwave, a new body scanning technology developed by Atlanta-based Liberty Defense Technologies. Parker Miller, an attorney with the Beasley Allen Law Firm’s Atlanta office explains how the technology presents questions and concerns about privacy. The technology scans a person’s body and creates a 3D image of what is on top of a person’s body. The developers say the technology could help prevent mass shootings and bombings. Parker is familiar with issues of security versus privacy through his work handling premises liability cases where a property owner fails to ensure a premises is reasonably safe. These cases include negligent security cases where innocent people are brutally injured or murdered in apartment complexes, hotels, nightclubs and other establishments because premises owners failed to take basic and necessary security measures.
