Fosamax linked to serious health risks
Fosamax is a type of medication known as a bisphosphonate, prescribed for the treatment of bone loss and osteoporosis. In October of 2010 the FDA required all manufacturers of bisphosphonates to include on their label a warning that an increased risk of thigh fractures, specifically low-energy femoral shaft and subtrochanteric fractures, are associated with the drug. Recently, the FDA announced another ongoing safety review for this drug, after studies indicated an increased risk of esophageal cancer linked to the drug. Beasley Allen attorney Chad Cook has been selected to the Plaintiff Steering Committee for the consolidated litigation surrounding Fosamax and femur fractures.
Chad Cook on Heparin recall
Chad Cook explain the dangers of the blood thinner Heparin. Widely used as an injectable anticoagulant and it derived from pig intestines, Heparin recently came under scrutiny after tainted heparin stock imported from china led to six major recalls of the medicine. The FDA reported 785 serious injuries and 395 death linked to Heparin.
Chad Cook on the Digitek recall
Chad Cook, lead Digitek attorney, speaks about the recent Digitek recall. Digitek was recalled in April 2008 after medicine was found to contain twice the active ingredient - digitalis. Digitek overdose can lead to bradycardia, extremely low blood pressure, and even death. Digitek is often given to patients in the hospital during a heart procedure.
Chad Cook on Fosamax Litigation
Chad Cook, lead Fosamax attorney, discusses ongoing Fosamax litigation. Recent studies demonstrate a clear link between osteonecrosis and Fosamax. The irony is that these drugs, such as Fosamax, that are prescribed to prevent bone decay may actually be causing bone decay - such as osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ).
