General Consumer Fraud | Landmark Verdict
Published: January 15, 2008
July, 1991 – This case involved several families who were cheated in a door-to-door sale and finance scam involving vinyl siding. Agents of the finance company went door to door in low income neighborhoods attempting to sell vinyl siding to consumers. The siding was financed through the finance company at a very high interest rate. The work that was done was very shoddy and in some cases not done at all and consumers were left holding the bag. The jury found this activity was fraudulent and helped stop this activity by awarding a large verdict.
