February, 2000 - This case involves a state senate leader, who was investigated and threatened by a politically connected insurance company after he refused to vote for their candidate for the Board of Trustees position on the Auburn University Board of Trustees. The case involved an invasion of privacy claim because there was an invasive investigation done on the senator and his family and on business transactions in an attempt to “bring about the demise” of his career as a state senator. The jury found in favor of the senator and awarded $15,200,000.00.
