Child Safety Seats
What is involved in a case with a Child Safety Seat?
Child Safety Seats are among the most essential items that parents need for their younger children. Motor vehicle accidents remain the leading cause of death for children ages 3-14. Properly installed car seats and booster seats reduce the risk of serious and fatal injuries by more than half.
There are many different components of a child’s car seat that could break down and increase your child’s risk of an injury. Some of the most common types of problems associated with car seats include:
• Improperly designed or installed child seat
• Lack of padding
• Easily disconnected from the base during an accident
• Use of flammable material
Beasley Allen sponsors a Seat Check Saturday event each fall, in partnership with Safe Kids USA and the Alabama Department of Public Health. At these events, qualified seat installation experts inspect child safety seats to help identify problems and ensure the seats are correctly installed. They also check to make sure the car seats have not been affected by any recalls.
Product liability is the area of law in which manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, retailers, and others who make products available to the public are held responsible for the injuries those products cause. Most of these injuries could be avoided if the distributor or manufacturer of these products took additional steps to ensure the safety of their consumers.
