High Pressure Tactics
What is meant by high-pressure tactics?
High-pressure tactics is defined as the illegal use of threats, physical intimidation, fear or coercion; or aggressive, persistent persuasive tactics in an attempt to make a sale. Often, this term is used in reference to the sale of insurance policies, often used in the marketing of policies supplementing Medicare. However, the term can be applied as an unfair business practice in any type of sale.
If a person feels he or she has been unreasonably pressured to make a purchase, there are consumer protection statutes that may offer some relief.
