Beasley Allen has filed a class action lawsuit in Circuit Court of Montgomery, Alabama, on behalf of a local woman, individually and as a class representative against Defendants Colonial Management Group, L.P.; Colonial GP, L.P.; and Montgomery Liquidating Professional Corporation d/b/a Montgomery Metro Treatment Center; and Gilberto Sanchez, M.D.
Beasley Allen has filed a class action lawsuit in United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama (1:10-cv-00252) on behalf of plaintiff Deupree Outdoor Guide Services, Inc., individually and on behalf of commercial charter fishing guide businesses affected by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. This class may include all Alabama residents who own and/or operate commercial charter fishing guide businesses that have suffered or will in the future suffer economic losses and/or damages as a result of the April 20 explosion and sinking of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig.
Days after the BP oil spill, reports surfaced that BP included a waiver of claims in its contracts with fishermen to help with cleanup efforts, which was later confirmed. On the heels of that campaign to deprive victims of their legal rights, stories are beginning to circulate about another BP campaign designed to take advantage of fishermen.
United States District Judge James V. Selna today appointed W. Daniel "Dee" Miles, III, head of the Consumer Fraud section for Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis and Miles, P.C., to the Liaison Committee for personal injury/wrongful death cases in litigation against Toyota. April 9, 2010, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multi-District Litigation selected the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California to hear litigation surrounding Toyota sudden unintended acceleration (SUA). Lawsuits include both individual personal injury claims and consumer class actions filed on behalf of Toyota owners who claim the value of their vehicles has been negatively affected by Toyota's SUA problems.
Today Transocean filed for protection from lawsuits by claiming Limitation of Liability under a 150-year-old maritime law. Transocean owns the oil drilling platform Deepwater Horizon, which was being leased by BP (British Petroleum) plc when it exploded on April 20 and sank into the Gulf of Mexico two days later. Since the rig sank, the pipeline and drilling site has been leaking more than 5,000 barrels of oil per day into the Gulf waters. Efforts to cap the leak have been unsuccessful and it is estimated economic and ecological damage to the entire Gulf Coast will be significant.

Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C. has filed a class action lawsuit (10-cv-243) on behalf of Alabama restaurant owners and food service businesses along the Alabama Gulf Coast for losses resulting from the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Many of these businesses receive substantial income from tourists, vacationers and commercial and sports fishermen. The suit is filed in federal court in the Southern District of Alabama on behalf of plaintiff Tacky Jack's Restaurant, and seeks to represent those individuals and businesses that have incurred damages related to the disaster. The suit alleges negligence and wanton misconduct. Defendants named in the suit are BP, Halliburton, and Cameron International.

The suit filed in the Eastern District of Louisiana is filed on behalf of plaintiff Gulf Crown Seafood Inc., based in Delcambre, Louisiana, and seeks to represent individuals and businesses that have incurred damages related to the disaster, including real property damages; personal property damages; loss of profits and earning capacity; loss of commercial and subsistence use of natural resources; increased costs of public services; and loss of revenues.
