Montgomery based law firm Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis and Miles, P.C., has filed a second wrongful death lawsuit involving IV packs filled with liquid nutritional supplements that were contaminated. The lawsuit is filed on behalf of Lyndal Robinson, whose mother, Jewell Robinson, died after receiving contaminated total parenteral nutrition (TPN) at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Shelby County, Alabama. The lawsuit names Birmingham-based pharmaceutical supplier Meds I.V. LLC as the primary defendant.

Montgomery based law firm Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis and Miles, P.C., has filed a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of the family of a patient who died in an Alabama hospital after receiving intravenous (IV) fluid tainted with a bacterial infection. The lawsuit is filed on behalf of Barbara Young, whose mother, Mary Ellen Kise, died at Baptist Health Systems in Prattville, Ala.




Business

A Charleston County, South Carolina, jury awarded $1,189,408 to Plaintiff Clifford Hansen after determining he had been unfairly excluded in a business purchase that he had personally developed. The jury held defendant, Beechwood Development Group of South Carolina, LLC, accountable for the investment Mr. Hansen made in developing plans to purchase Hickory Springs Water Company, which bottles and distributes drinking water for retail and wholesale customers. The defendants eventually purchased the business and assets of the company to the exclusion of the plaintiff.




Community

The law firm Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C., announces the beginning of a four-week project to create a Youth Entrepreneurship Center and Housing Redevelopment Center in West Montgomery in conjunction with Common Ground Montgomery (CGM).  The program includes the renovation of a 4,300-square-foot double storefront building on Mobile Road, adjacent to the organization's existing facility. The plan for this property is to house a Youth Entrepreneurship Center and Housing Redevelopment Center.

Chris Glover, Shareholder with Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C., was elected President of the Southern Trial Lawyers Association (STLA) at the organization's 23rd Annual Conference, held in New Orleans, Louisiana, March 3-6. Glover will lead the organization March 2011 through March 2012. It is the mission of the STLA to promote fellowship, learning and networking among trial lawyers throughout the 13 southern states.




Community

Beasley Allen will be on the hood and sides of the No. 36 ARCA car driver Grant Enfinger will race Saturday, Feb. 12, at the World Center of Racing. The Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 will kick off Daytona Speed Weeks, which is the beginning of the race season. Grant also will drive at Talladega on April 15.




Community

Beasley Allen shareholder Kendall Dunson was installed as President of the Montgomery County Bar Association on January 27, 2011. He is the first African American selected to lead this organization, which was officially established in 1915. Dunson was installed at the MCBA annual meeting.




Pharmaceutical

Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C. attorney Navan Ward, Jr., who practices in the firm's Mass Torts section, has been chosen to help direct litigation related to the recall of 93,000 defective hip implant parts. Ward is one of 19 lawyers selected to oversee the consolidated litigation as part of the Plaintiffs Steering Committee (PSC).




Product Liability

Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C., has filed a lawsuit in the Circuit Court of Jefferson County, Alabama, on behalf of a young man badly burned and permanently injured when his car burned after a crash. The lawsuit alleges the automobile manufacturer, Ford Motor Company, was aware the design of the 1993 Ford Crown Victoria driven by the victim, 26-year-old Kevin Deandreas Boykins, was dangerous, presenting a significant risk of post crash fires, particularly in rear impacts.




Personal Injury

Julia Beasley, a lawyer with the Montgomery based law firm Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C., has filed a lawsuit on behalf of a Lee County teacher who was injured in an incident that occurred on the campus of Auburn University. Frankie Askew Bell, an Auburn-area teacher, was severely injured when she was struck by a car while crossing the street on campus in November.
