MONTGOMERY, ALA. (September 21, 2009) - Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange has officially designated Saturday, Sept. 26, as Mesothelioma Awareness Day in Montgomery. The recognition goes hand-in-hand with a nationwide Mesothelioma Awareness Day campaign under the direction of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (Meso Foundation).
A Chilton County jury awarded the Sanderson family of Clanton, Ala., a verdict of $3.5 million for the death of James Sanderson, who was killed when the van he was driving was crushed between two logging trucks. Beasley Allen attorneys Benjamin E. Baker and J. Cole Portis represented the Sanderson family, including James Sanderson's widow, Annie M. Sanderson, and children, Derek, Josh and Amy Sanderson; against defendants Ken Gorum Trucking and Gary Fruge.

MONTGOMERY, ALA. (February 26, 2009) - Beasley Allen filed suit in the Circuit Court for Mobile County, Ala., yesterday, Feb. 25, 2009, on behalf of the family of Michele Strother, who was killed August 6, 2008, when the 1996 Mercury Mountaineer in which she was a passenger went out of control and rolled over on Interstate 65.
MONTGOMERY, ALA, January 30, 2009 -- A lawsuit was filed today in the Circuit Court of Baldwin County, Ala., on behalf of the family of Leroy Myers, a decorated war veteran who died as the result of a fall on May 3, 2007, while under supervised nursing care at the W.F. Green State Veterans Home. Defendants named in the suit include HMR Advantage Health Systems, Inc.; Health Management Resources - Governmental Services, Inc.; HMR of Bay Minette, Inc.; and Health Management Resources, Inc. All of these companies had the responsibility for operation and management of the facility.
Montgomery, Ala. - A lawsuit has been filed in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, Northern Division, on behalf of the family of Thomas Ballenger, against Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation. Ballenger was killed on January 4, 2009 when the Sikorsky S-76C++ helicopter he was piloting crashed into swampy terrain north of the Gulf of Mexico near Morgan City, Louisiana. The crash occurred about 7 minutes after take off from Amelie, Louisiana, and resulted in the death of Ballinger and 7 others. There was one survivor who was critically injured.
Montgomery, Ala. - A lawsuit has been filed in the Circuit Court for Lee County, Alabama, on behalf of an Auburn University student who was injured at a campus fraternity house on January 11, 2009. The complaint was filed on behalf of Taylor G. Jones against Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, the Auburn chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Alabama Alpha chapter, and a fraternity member, Zachary James Quillen.
