(January 26, 2010)  - Putting its motto - "helping those who need it most" - into action, Beasley Allen Law Firm presented representatives from Harriet's House in Demopolis, Ala., with a Wii gaming system today. Harriet's House is the first recipient chosen for the firm's ongoing "Wii Give Back" campaign. The campaign will give one Wii gaming system to a deserving Alabama charity each month in 2010 as part of the firm's "12 Months of Giving."

MONTGOMERY, ALA. (January 21, 2010)  - A team made up of seven Junior and Senior level students from Saint James High School in Montgomery, Ala., has been selected to represent the State of Alabama at the National Mock Trial competition May 5-9 in Philadelphia. The students came out on top of 66 teams from throughout the state that competed during the annual YMCA Youth in Government Youth Judicial event, held Nov. 16-18, 2009. Beasley Allen attorney Clay Barnett is the team's head coach.

(December 14, 2009) - Beasley Allen attorneys Bill Robertson and John Tomlinson were on hand to spread a little Christmas cheer at the Father Walter Memorial Child Care Center's annual Christmas party, held Dec. 4, 2009, presenting Father Manuel Williams with a check for $6,000. The money was presented on behalf of the Montgomery County Association for Justice, and was raised at the organization's annual Golf Classic event, held in October. Bill Roberston was chair of the event for the second year in a row, and Judge Charles Price served as honorary chairman.

Beasley Allen Law Firm hosted its third annual Legal Strategies Conference & Expo (formerly called the Beasley Allen Retreat) at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center Friday, Nov. 20, and Saturday, Nov. 21. The event provides continuing legal education (CLE) credits and is open to all Alabama lawyers in private practice. The conference has grown steadily each year, from about 400 lawyers in 2007 to more than 1,200 this year.

Representatives from Alabama Appleseed, a non-profit organization that works to address social problems through legal advocacy, community involvement and policy expertise, accepted a $1,000 grant on Thursday, November 12, 2009, from the Alabama State Bar Young Lawyer's Section (YLS). Beasley Allen attorney Navan Ward, who serves as secretary for the YLS, presented the check to Appleseed Executive Director John A. Pickens and Legal Director Shay Farley. The money will benefit Appleseed's work in the area of payday loan reform.
