The firm seeks to represent property owners and rental agencies that have incurred damages related to the disaster, including: real property damages; personal property damages; loss of profits and earning capacity; loss of commercial and subsistence use of natural resources; increased costs of public services; and, loss of revenues.

Last February, Mary Baker, the president of the European Federation of Neurological Associations and vice president of the European Brain Council, along with 18 other medical professionals, signed an open letter to the UK's Times Online expressing concern about the Department of Health's proposed introduction of the Automatic Generic Substitution plan, which would allow pharmacists in the UK to substitute a generic version of a medication even if the doctor has written the prescription for a specific name brand. This proposal could serious jeopardize patient well-being, the letter expressed.
A two-year observational study shows that strategies to improve treatment of severe epilepsy can reduce the cost of medications and hospitalization expenses. The research was sponsored by UCB Inc., makers of two epilepsy drugs, Vimpat (lacosamide) C-V and Keppra XR (levetiracetam) extended-release tablets.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with Family Dollar Stores Inc., of Charlotte, N.C., is announcing the voluntary recall of 1.8 million toy dart gun sets, due to an aspiration hazard. CPSC and Family Dollar have received reports of two asphyxiation deaths involving a 9-year-old boy in Chicago, Ill. and a 10-year-old boy in Milwaukee, Wis.
A Delaware judge has sanctioned a subsidiary company of Transocean Ltd, owner of the Deepwater Horizon, for abusing the court system with "vexatious" tactics in an effort to shed its legal liability for a previous Louisiana oil spill. In addition to using "gamesmanship of the legal system," the Transocean attorneys also established empty shell companies and then filed deceitful bankruptcy petitions to frustrate and thwart complainants, according to the court.
An anesthetic system used to provide general inhalation anesthesia and ventilation support is being recalled by the manufacturer because the devices may have a defect that can cause the machine to unexpectedly shut down, terminating ventilation, anesthetic delivery, and potentially patient monitoring. This recall falls under the FDA's Class 1 classification, which is the most serious type of recall issued by the agency and is reserved for products in which there is a reasonable probability that use of the products will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.
More romaine lettuce is being recalled today while federal investigators work to pinpoint the source of an E. coli 0145 outbreak that has sickened 19 people in Michigan, New York and Ohio. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Oklahoma-based Vaughn Foods announced it is recalling lettuce with "use by" dates of May 9 and May 10.
Epilepsy is a condition that affects less than 2 percent of the population. In years past, epileptics often suffered seizures their entire lives. But nowadays many people can manage their seizures with appropriate medication. In 2009, generic versions of Keppra became available to consumers. As with many drugs, health insurance providers began switching patients to the lesser expensive generics. For some, the results were dangerous, with some patients experiencing a relapse in seizures. Others reported debilitating migraines.
Oil industry experts and BP officials had hoped a 100-ton dome would contain the massive amounts of oil currently gushing into the Gulf of Mexico following the April 20 explosion of the Deepwater Horizon drilling platform. Since the platform sank on April 22, an estimated 5,000 barrels of oil per day have been leaking into the gulf. Over the weekend, BP lowered the containment dome over the primary leak site, almost a mile below the surface of the ocean. However, an icelike substance called methane hydrate clogged the box, which then had to be removed. So, what now?
