The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in connection with Calisson Inc., has announced the recall of the Cool-It Soother pacifier product. This product is a teething ring, which is clear and attached to a green plastic handle in the shape of the character “Gnon.” The manufacturer says there is a danger that the teething ring could be punctured, allowing bacteria and mold to grow inside the teether’s untreated liquid center. This poses a hazard to infants who may swallow the liquid, possibly resulting in diarrhea and vomiting.

The CPSC says no injures have been reported in association with this product. The Cool-It Soother teething ring was sold at small specialty children’s stores nationwide, as well as online at amazon.com, from January 2008 through November 2010 for about $10.

Consumers are advised to immediately take the teething ring away from children. The ring can be returned to Calisson for a free replacement teething ring. For additional information, consumers can call Calisson toll-free at 888-318-9803 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or visit the company’s website at www.sophiegiraffeusa.com.
