An article published Oct. 1 by the Super Lawyers Blog lists Beasley Allen attorney Rhon Jones among the top candidates for selection to the BP oil spill multidistrict litigation (MDL). The article, titled “Talent abounds among applicants for BP litigation steering committee” notes that many of the lawyers who are applying for a spot on the MDL panel have been featured on Super Lawyers and Rising Stars lists. Jones has been included on the Super Lawyers list in 2009 and 2010. The Super Lawyers Blog is a publication of Thomson Reuters.

The Super Lawyer designation is based on peer recognition and personal achievement, and involves a statewide nomination process, independent research on each candidate, and peer evaluation by practice area. Criteria that factors into the selection process include verdicts, settlements, transactions, representative clients, experience, honors and awards, special licenses and certifications, position within the law firm, bar or other professional activity; pro bono and community service, scholarly lectures and writings, education and employment background, and other outstanding achievements.
