Prescription Stomach Pills Could be Hurting You

This year the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) asked major drug manufacturer Novartis to voluntarily pull their popular prescription medication Zelnorm from pharmacy shelves.

Zelnorm, used to treat irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), constipation and other digestive disorders, may cause a risk of cardiovascular side effects, including an increased risk of heart attack or stroke. This medication joins a long line of prescription drugs that were taken off the market due to side effects that were more harmful to the patient than the remedy.

In the wake of these recent findings, the public should sort through their medicine cabinets, cleaning out anything that is expired and potentially tossing prescription drugs that could be doing more harm than good.

More than a Stomach Ache

Digestive problems account for millions of doctor visits each year. But prescription medication needn't be the first course of treatment for relief. Many doctors treat the symptoms of digestive problems rather than the causes themselves. Therefore, prescription medication that either suppresses acid production or gas in the stomach and intestines is often the first line of defense. However, boosting the natural enzymes in the digestive system can be a better course of action.

Nu-ZymesTM is a dietary supplement that is taken before, after or between meals. Each all-natural capsule is fortified with a unique blend of maylase, protease, lactase, lipase, cellulase, acidophilus and CereCalaseTM – a special blend of three enzymes. These plant- and fungi-derived enzymes perform specific functions to help the digestive system work properly by breaking down fats, proteins, sugars and other nutrients into smaller particles for ease of digestion.

"My 13-year-old son was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome when he was 5 years old," says Cynthia H. of Alto, Texas. "I have searched for something to help him for years and finally gave up until I watched a program on Nu-Zymes. I ordered them and my son could tell a difference immediately. My whole family takes them now."

In addition to supplementing with Nu-Zymes, there are other steps to take that can improve digestion:

• Enjoy smaller portions: Overeating can cause weight gain and contribute to bloating and acid reflux.

• Eat more raw foods: Raw vegetables and fruits are full of nutrients and the natural enzymes your body needs.

• Clean out your digestive system: Toxins can build up in your digestive tract, impacting health and leading to weight gain. Scientifically formulated to flush out the digestive tract, Regulux® removes the same energy draining toxins that build up on the bowel walls, maintaining healthy colon function while promoting a healthier intestinal lining.

• Drink plenty of water: Water flushes out the body and promotes good health across the board.
