Beasley Allen reviewing BP oil spill damage claims

The class settlement agreements between BP and the PSC for economic/property loss and personal injury claims were submitted to the court for preliminary approval on April 25. It is not too late to submit claims that fall in or out of the class settlement. We expect the class settlement claims center to open approximately May 25 and claims can be made under the settlement through at least April 22, 2014.

Beasley Allen files lawsuit on behalf of family of drowning victims

Bacteria-contaminated ultrasound gel recalled

Potentially dangerous bacteria has been found in gel used in ultrasound transmission, according to a safety announcement issued by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). A recall was issued on three lots of Other-Sonic Generic Ultrasound Transmission Gel, manufactured by Pharmaceutical Innovations Inc.

Dole recalls bagged salad for possible salmonella contamination

Dole Food Co. has announced a voluntary recall of 756 cases of bagged salad suspected of possible salmonella contamination. The product, Seven Lettuces salad, was distributed in 15 states.

Morphine injections recalled due to overdose risk

One lot of morphine sulfate injection made by Hospira, Inc., is being recalled because a customer reported finding two syringes containing more of the drug than stated on the label. Morphine is an opioid pain medication that if overdosed could have life-threatening consequences.

Beasley Allen attorney secures $2.3 million jury verdict for plaintiffs harmed by landfill

LEE COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA – (April 2, 2012) Beasley Allen attorney William E. Hopkins, Jr., along with co-counsel Gary Poliakoff, secured a $2.3 million verdict from a South Carolina jury on behalf of Bishopville area residents harmed by a huge landfill in Lee County. The jury found in favor of the plaintiffs against Lee County Landfill SC LLC, a division of waste management company Republic Services, holding the company responsible for “nuisance landfill odors that affect people’s enjoyment of their property.”
