Jones School of Law awards first Monica Jordan Law Scholarship

Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, located at Faulkner University, has selected the first recipient for its Monica Jordan Public Interest Law Scholarship. The scholarship is named for Monica Jordan, a Montgomery native, who demonstrated heroic persistence and resolve in the wake of losing her daughter to a domestic violence incident and her son in an automobile accident. The scholarship was established through a partnership between Jones School of Law and the law firm of Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C. The inaugural scholarship was presented to current first-year law student Sebrina Martin on Wednesday, November 30.

Jones School of Law officially opens new Allen Law Center

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (November 15, 2011) – A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the grand opening of the new Allen Law Center on the campus of Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, located at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala. The new law school facility was named in honor of Jones alumnus J. Greg Allen, a Shareholder at Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C.

Beasley Allen attorneys named to 2011 Super Lawyers list

MONTGOMERY, ALA. (April 29, 2011)  - Eleven Beasley Allen attorneys were selected for inclusion on the 2011 Super Lawyers list, a designation earned by fewer than five percent of lawyers in the state. Included on the list are the firm's founding shareholder, Jere L. Beasley, as well as shareholders J. Greg Allen, Thomas J. Methvin, J. Cole Ports, Daniel W. "Dee" Miles III, Andy D. Birchfield, Jr., Rhon E. Jones and Benjamin E. Baker, Jr. Three Beasley Allen attorneys also were included on the Super Lawyers "Rising Stars" list, which recognizes the top up-and-coming attorneys - those who are 40 years old or younger, or who have been practicing 10 years or less. Beasley Allen's Rising Stars are Chris D. Glover, William H. Robertson, V, and Navan Ward.

Beasley Allen firm sponsoring ARCA driver to kick off racing season

Beasley Allen will be on the hood and sides of the No. 36 ARCA car driver Grant Enfinger will race Saturday, Feb. 12, at the World Center of Racing. The Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 will kick off Daytona Speed Weeks, which is the beginning of the race season. Grant also will drive at Talladega on April 15.

Beasley Allen names top attorneys of the year and the decade

Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C., announced Dec. 9 that Shareholders J. Greg Allen and Andy D. Birchfield, Jr., have been named as the firm's Litigators of the Decade. Annually Beasley Allen recognizes its attorneys who demonstrate exceptional professional skill throughout the course of the year and who best represent the firm's ideal of "helping those who need it most." The Litigator of the Decade award was created this year to recognize the attorney or attorneys who have demonstrated consistent excellence on behalf of their clients and the firm.

Court awards $5.25 million to family of woman killed on the job

The law firm of Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C., represented the family of Beverlyn Wingard in a wrongful death lawsuit filed in Circuit Court of Montgomery County, Alabama. Ms. Wingard was killed in January 2008 while working for Albany International in Montgomery, when she was crushed by machinery she was operating at the textile plant. Montgomery County Circuit Judge Charles Price found on behalf of the Plaintiffs and awarded $5,250,000 in damages.

Jones School of Law building to be named for Greg Allen

Greg Allen, shareholder at Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C., has been honored by his alma mater, Jones School of Law. A new addition to the law school will be named in his honor. A groundbreaking ceremony for the Allen Law Center on the campus of Faulkner University's Thomas Goode Jones School of Law is set for Friday, October 15, 2010, at 9 a.m.
