Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C., announced Dec. 9 that Shareholders J. Greg Allen and Andy D. Birchfield, Jr., have been named as the firm's Litigators of the Decade. Annually Beasley Allen recognizes its attorneys who demonstrate exceptional professional skill throughout the course of the year and who best represent the firm's ideal of "helping those who need it most." The Litigator of the Decade award was created this year to recognize the attorney or attorneys who have demonstrated consistent excellence on behalf of their clients and the firm.

The families of Beasley Allen attorneys J. Cole Portis, head of the firm's Personal Injury Section, and Andy Birchfield, head of the firm's Mass Torts Section, were selected by the Family Guidance Center of Alabama as winners of the 22nd annual Families of the Year Awards. The awards recognize outstanding families in the community who pull together when times are tough, work toward a common goal, celebrate accomplishments, and most importantly, love unconditionally.

Nine Beasley Allen attorneys were selected for inclusion on the 2010 Super Lawyers list, a designation earned by fewer than five percent of lawyers in the state. Included on the list are the firm's founding shareholder, Jere L. Beasley, as well as shareholders J. Greg Allen, Thomas J. Methvin, J. Cole Ports, Daniel W. "Dee" Miles III, C. Gibson Vance, Andy D. Birchfield, Jr., Rhon E. Jones and Benjamin E. Baker, Jr. Additionally, Beasley earned the additional distinction of being named among the Top 50 Lawyers in the state.

MONTGOMERY, ALA. (June 9, 2009)  - Beasley Allen is pleased to welcome a new associate, Danielle Ward Mason, who joins the firm's Mass Torts section, where she will work with section head Andy Birchfield to investigate claims involving dangerous drugs and medical devices. Danielle graduated cum laude from Faulkner University's Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 2007.

Super Lawyers designation is based on peer recognition and professional achievement

Renewed criticism of Merck & Co's handling of its withdrawn pain drug Vioxx may further tarnish the drugmaker's image but is not about to scuttle its multibillion-dollar deal to settle thousands of personal injury lawsuits brought by former Vioxx users.

As was reported previously, on November 9, 2007, Merck agreed to pay $4.85 billion dollars to settle the claims of persons who suffered a heart attack or stroke while taking the pain reliever, Vioxx.
