What are the dangers associated with highway construction areas?

The firm is handling a wrongful death case involving an automobile accident that occurred in a highway construction zone.

The Plaintiff’s decedent was a teenage passenger in the back seat of an automobile that entered into a construction zone operated by DuBose Construction Company.

The construction company had constructed a detour lane for traffic to travel around ongoing construction. The construction site was protected by temporary concrete barriers which were placed up against the detour lane.

On the day of the incident, rainfall occurred prior to the Plaintiff’s vehicle entering the construction zone. As a result of improper maintenance, design and/or construction, run off rainwater collected in the Plaintiff’s lane of travel.

The Defendants failed to provide for adequate drainage so as to protect the traveling public. Plaintiff’s vehicle hydroplaned and the decedent was killed as a result of the injuries received in the accident.
