Putting its motto – “helping those who need it most” – into action, Beasley Allen Law Firm announced Harriet’s House in Demopolis, Ala., as the first recipient selected during its “Wii Give Back” campaign. The campaign will give one Wii gaming system to a deserving Alabama charity each month in 2010 as part of the firm’s “12 Months of Giving.”

Harriet’s House is a not-for-profit shelter for victims of domestic abuse, and serves people throughout West Alabama and beyond.

“We are looking forward to being able to help more people through this project,” said Tom Methvin, Managing Shareholder of Beasley Allen. “We are especially glad to have the opportunity to help children in a crisis situation. By providing them with Wii games, Harriet’s House can help ease a very painful time in their lives.”

Charities from throughout the state, including Huntsville, Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile and Dothan are eligible for the Wii Give Back program. Nominations will be accepted throughout the year on the firm’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/beasleyallen) or by email at public.relations@beasleyallen.com.

In December, the firm announced the 12 Months of Giving campaign and presented three additional Wiis at its annual Christmas luncheon. Representatives from Adullum House, Brantwood Children’s Home and Common Ground Montgomery received the Wii systems.

Harriet’s House provides emergency shelter services free of charge to women and their children who are victims of domestic violence. Non-residential services also are available free of charge to all victims of domestic violence. Harriet’s House staff operates through a team approach designed to help victims of abuse in a relaxed, non-institutional setting. Harriet’s House serves all counties, though primarily Greene, Marengo and Sumter counties. For more information, visit www.westal.net/harrietshouse

I never dreamed how much this would mean to me

I received another check today, much to my surprise. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I never dreamed how much this would mean to me in my golden years, as I have had hearing problems for years and needed to update my hearing aids, but with a limited income, found that was impossible. I now have the best hearing aids that I have ever had, thanks to you fighting so hard on my behalf.
