MONTGOMERY, ALA. (August 15, 2011) – On August 15, the law firm of Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C., presented the teachers of Martin Luther King Elementary School with classroom supplies including card stock, crayons, pencils, markers, hand sanitizer and more.
“Beasley Allen has been partnering with Martin Luther King Elementary School for seven years. We hope that the supplies donated today will take some of the burden off of the teachers who dedicate their lives to these precious children” said Tom Methvin, Managing Shareholder.
Martin Luther King Elementary Principal, Booker McMillian says “We are extremely grateful to our partner Beasley Allen for the donation of school supplies. In these tough economic times, this donation will minimize the strain on our teachers, students, parents, and the MLK community at large. We invite other community stakeholders to get involved. Together we can all make a difference.”
“Now more than ever our schools need the support of the business community. Whether it be a financial gift or allowing employees to give their time to tutor or mentor a student, the business community is key” said Neil Mercer, President, Board of Directors of Partners in Education and Manager, Alabama Power.
“Partners In Education is pleased to serve as a link between businesses and organizations in our community with an interest in giving back to students and teachers” said Chacolby Burns-Johnson, Executive Director. “The key to a successful and bright future for students is having everyone involved and engaged in the education system. The partnerships create a sense of community spirit, which makes the school more than just a building. Students are worth the investment and the partnerships are a great support to our schools.”
The supplies provided will be used by teachers and will help subsidize items typically brought by students.
