Baldwin County’s CARE House will receive 5th Wii gaming system during Beasley Allen Law Firm “Wii Give Back!” campaign

MONTGOMERY, ALA. (May 19, 2010)  – Beasley Allen Law Firm has selected the CARE House in Bay Minette, Ala., as the recipient of the fifth gaming system it will give away in its yearlong “Wii Give Back!” campaign. The CARE House provides services to children who have been the victims of sexual and severe physical abuse. The Wii is becoming a popular therapeutic tool, useful in both physical therapy / rehabilitation and in working with young people facing crisis situations by providing caregivers with a tool to comfort and engage children.

The CARE House serves abused children through a multi-disciplinary team approach while empowering all toward child abuse prevention. CARE House is Baldwin County’s resource and referral source on child abuse. Team members include the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office, Baldwin County Law Enforcement, Baldwin County Human Resources and medical personnel. Suspected sexual abuse is investigated at CARE House.

“The Wii Give Back program should be a great help to the CARE House in their work with children at a time of crisis,” said Tom Methvin, Beasley Allen managing shareholder. “It is a tragedy when a child is forced to face such a horrible circumstance as abuse. We hope the Wii will help make ministering to these kids a bit easier.”

Beasley Allen established the Wii Give Back campaign after donating two Wii gaming systems to rehabilitation programs in Alabama last fall. The effort was so well-received that Beasley Allen expanded the program to provide a Wii gaming system to a deserving Alabama charity each month in 2010.

Past  recipients of Wii systems in 2009 and 2010 include the James M. Barrie Center, Jimmie Hale Mission, Harriet’s House, Camp ASCCA, Brantwood Children’s Home and Common Ground Montgomery.

Charities from throughout the state, including Huntsville, Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile and Dothan are eligible for the Wii Give Back program. Nominations will be accepted throughout the year on the firm’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/beasleyallen) or by email at public.relations@beasleyallen.com.
