For the second year, Beasley Allen attorney Clay Barnett is serving as Chairman for the River Region United Way’s Attorney Campaign. The United Way conducts an annual campaign to raise money to support its 48 agency partners that serve all the people of the River Region. Services range from pre-birth to Hospice of Montgomery. The annual campaign asks individuals to contribute either through their business or individually. The Attorney Campaign is one important piece of the puzzle, helping the United Way reach its goal, which ensures that people in our community can obtain the services they need. Last year, area lawyers pledged $140,000 to the River Region United Way.

Letters and information packages have been sent to law firms of all sizes in the area, as well as to solo practitioners, asking them to support the campaign again, or to join the effort if they have not participated in the past. The campaign kicked off August 27 with the Rally in the Alley, held in the new downtown entertainment district. The goal for this year’s campaign is $5.6 million.

“I recognize the importance of donating both my time and resources to the United Way due to the broad base of services it provides,” Barnett says. “And I appreciate the fact that 100 percent of the dollars contributed to our River Region United Way will remain in our region, meaning that contributions made to this campaign go directly to the River Region community and its charitable organizations. It truly is a wonderful way to support the local agencies that care for our fellow citizens in need.”
