A jury in New Orleans has found in favor of the plaintiff, 62 year-old Gerald Barnett, in the 2nd federal Vioxx trial. The retired FBI agent who suffered a heart attack after taking the painkiller Vioxx is entitled to $50 million in compensatory and $1 million in punitive damages from drug manufacturer Merck & Co., a federal jury found Thursday.

Andy Birchfield and Leigh O'Dell of the Beasley Allen law firm served as co-counsel along with Mark Robinson of Robinson Calcagnie & Robinson during the trial of this matter.
