A jury in New Orleans has found in favor of the plaintiff, 62 year-old Gerald Barnett, in the 2nd federal Vioxx trial. The retired FBI agent who suffered a heart attack after taking the painkiller Vioxx is entitled to $50 million in compensatory and $1 million in punitive damages from drug manufacturer Merck & Co., a federal jury found Thursday.

Andy Birchfield and Leigh O’Dell of the Beasley Allen law firm served as co-counsel along with Mark Robinson of Robinson Calcagnie & Robinson during the trial of this matter.

I never dreamed how much this would mean to me

I received another check today, much to my surprise. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I never dreamed how much this would mean to me in my golden years, as I have had hearing problems for years and needed to update my hearing aids, but with a limited income, found that was impossible. I now have the best hearing aids that I have ever had, thanks to you fighting so hard on my behalf.
