Wrongful Death Suit Filed Against Drug Company

A wrongful death lawsuit was filed Monday in Tuscaloosa County against a drug company that makes and sells Celebrex

The lawsuit was files by Michael H. Allen, administrator of the estate of Nine Earline Ratliff. Ratliff developed and died from Stevens-Johnson Syndrome after taking Celebrex, pain killer, according to a statement from the Beasley, Allen law firm in Montgomery.

The defendants in the case include Pfizer Inc., Pharmacia Corp., Monsanto Company and Searle.

Ratliff estate is represented by Beasley, Allen.

Jere Beasley, one of the lawyers handling the case said when filing the complaint that the companies knew of risks associated with Celebrex and withheld that knowledge from them and the medical community.
