Jere Beasley, founding shareholder of Montgomery, Alabama-based Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C., has once again been recognized as one of the most outstanding lawyers in the United States. He was recently selected as one of 10 attorneys featured in The National Law Journal’s 2008 special report, titled Winning: Successful strategies from some of the nation’s top litigators.

The lawyers featured in The National Law Journal’s 2008 Winning special report, published in June, share a knack for artfully swaying judges and juries and taking risks when they see the opportunity to seize an advantage in the courtroom. The publication chose the victors of 10 cases from scores of nominations offered from firms of all sizes from just about every state in the union. The basic criteria required that nominees have at least one significant win within the past 18 months, and a history of noteworthy wins during the past several years.

Among Beasley’s notable verdicts cited by the special report are the 2003 fraud trial against Exxon Mobil Corp, for which he served as co-lead counsel and secured an $11.9 billion verdict for the state of Alabama.

Asked for his keys to success, Beasley touts plain talk and honest dealings, saying, “lawyers better be straight with that jury.” Show them respect, he says, and demonstrate that you are serious about your client’s case.

Best firm by far

Our case was handled with the utmost integrity and professionalism. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. This is the best legal firm I have ever dealt with by far.
