There's a settlement in the class action lawsuit against Ford's Explorer SUV.

More than 250 people were killed and hundreds more injured in rollover accidents involving tread separation on Bridgestone/Firestone tires, most of which were on Explorers at the time they failed. Each company blamed the other for the rollovers.

Now Ford is settling with about a million people in four states including California. It amounts to letting plaintiffs apply for coupons. Customers will receive $500 off a new Ford explorer, and lesser amounts off other Ford or Lincoln-Mercury vehicles.

Ford says the settlement it has reached with about a million people is fair, reasonable, and in the best interest of its consumers.
