Beasley Allen lawyer Ali Hawthorne recently visited WAKA to talk about an upcoming tire safety event sponsored by the firm, in cooperation with the Millbrook Police Department. Ali shares important information about tire age, noting that tires have an “expiration date” of six years, after which manufacturers recommend tires be replaces. Even tires that have not been used may degrade over time due to factors like heat, so even if they look brand new, they may be unsafe. There is a code on the tire that consumers can check to find out how old the tire is, but most people don’t know where it is or how to read it. The event, set for Saturday, June 13, will allow a trained police officer to educate drivers. The event will be held at the Millbrook Walmart located at 145 Kelley Blvd off Hwy 14, from 7:30-9:30 a.m. The event is FREE and open to the public.
