About Brantley Fry
Brantley Fry was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1973. After graduating from high school at The Altamont School, Brantley graduated from Hollins College with a degree in Sociology. She then earned her law degree from the nation's top environmental law program at Vermont Law School in 2000. Brantley has been practicing environmental law for over ten years and she knew at a young age that she would work on environmental issues.
During law school, Brantley clerked for the U.S. Department of Justice, Environment and Natural Resource Division where her work focused on Clean Air Act (CAA) and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) litigation. She also served as legislative intern on the U.S. House of Representatives, Commerce Sub-Committee on Health and Environment where she worked on proposed legislation to address MTBE pollution. After law school, Brantley served as interim professional staff on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. She also served as a Senior Associate for a federal contractor, ICF Consulting, where she provided regulatory support services to federal agencies, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the U.S. Department of Defense. She also served as Executive Director of Black Warrior Riverkeeper, where her duties included oversight of litigation strategy in numerous citizen actions alleging violations of various environmental laws, particularly the Clean Water Act.
In connection with her environmental law practice, Brantley has represented a wide range of clients including individuals, non-governmental organizations (NGO's), and governmental agencies. Her practice has focused almost entirely on environmental law and policy. As a federal contractor, she assisted federal agencies with regulatory analysis under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), CAA, CERCLA, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). This regulatory analysis included drafting environmental impact statements (EISs) for various federal projects; drafting reports on industrial permitting requirements under the CAA, CWA, and RCRA; and evaluating financial assurance submissions for nuclear power plants. As an NGO executive, she oversaw litigation strategy and research for citizen actions under state and federal environmental laws, particularly the CWA. She also performed comparative analysis of stormwater laws, regulations, and program implementation in eight southeastern states.
Brantley joined Beasley Allen in March 2009. Since joining Beasley Allen, her practice includes class action, toxic tort cases pending before Federal Courts in the southeastern U.S. She currently works on TVA coal ash spill and BP oil spill litigation as well as reviews potential toxic tort cases.
